Miles Mungo our founder, has been working as a professional designer since 2009. He’s worked with clients in the US, Canada, the UK, the Caribbean, and South Africa, providing branding, web design, graphic design, motion design, film production, and a whole lot more.

Content

re-launch

Ultimately we are working towards a re-launch of the book, in fact it will essentially be a brand new launch. To give the launch the best chance for success, we’ll be using social media marketing, a new cover, a website, giveaways, amazon reviews, email lists, photography, a book trailer, eBook sale, and potentially: BookBub ddeal, Goodreads, local media, and influencer marketing.

4 weeks

  1. New Cover – This will include a logo that can be used on the back of the cards for the game. The cover itself will convey the absurd spirit of the book, the comedy, while grabbing the attention and curiosity of readers.
  2. In-Book Illustrations – We’ll select the statements or questions we think would make for the most interesting illustrations. We’ll also make sure they are space out every 3 pages or so.

  1. Card Design – We’ll create a template for cards that can be used digitally and printed physically. Some will have very simple illustrations to accompany the words.
  2. Video – We’d like to organize a reading/playing party for the book, where we can record people using/enjoying the book, cards, and game(s).
  3. Book Trailer – A combination of motion graphics, video, photography, and early reviews.
  4. Social Media Content – Posting different statements & questions, photography of cards. Early reviews as well as different applications for the book.
  5. Website – Link to buy the book (digital and hard copy), links to share, games that can be played, link to buy the physical cards.
  6. Photography – Mockups and photography of the book, cards, and people using/reading them.
  7. Testing and QA – In addition to getting early reviews, we’ll get feedback on the games.

We want to have as much content and as big of an audience as possible before we re-launch. The majority of the above content will be created before the re-launch date.

  1. Launch Countdown – On social media we will have countdown posts for the launch.
  2. Website countdown – A countdown timer on the website leading up to the launch.
  3. eBook Sale – It’s recommended that you do a heavily discounted eBook sale for the first week after launch.
  4. Important Day – We aim to launch along with a National or Global day: January 21st is One Liners Day (https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/one-liners-day/)
  5. BookBub Deal – Also during the launch week, we can offer a discount via BookBub. This sends an email to their user base, based on their preferred books/themes/genres.
  6. Goodreads – Register as a Goodreads author once the new cover, illustrations, and editing are complete.

Ownership

70/30 Split

This is GUMBO’s first joint publishing/authoring deal, so we hope that this split is amenable to you: 70% to you, 30% to GUMBO.

We’re flexible, so let us know what you believe is fair. Do your own research, ask around, pray about it, and let’s find the right number for us!

Conclusion.

We believe January 21st being One Liner’s Day offers a great and early opportunity to re-launch the book. While this is an aggressive timeline, we know that getting the project going in a timely fashion is an important factor for you.
